Even more dog stuff
Nov. 22nd, 2009 08:27 amThe issue I'm running into now is that Gaby's appetite is going downhill. She
just turned her nose up at the canned rabbit food all by itself, with none
of the hypo food. I may try the hypo food by itself later, after her pills
have had a chance to work. She needs to put something in her stomach to
prevent additional nausea. She hasn't eaten since yesterday morning, and if
she ate a mouthful then, it was a lot.
I went through this last month. She didn't eat much of anything for almost
four days, and she just got sicker and sicker. I was supposed to be
introducing the new venison food to her gradually, but I spoke with the vet
and in desperation we finally said hell with it and gave her the canned
venison food by itself, which was the only thing she had shown any interest
in. She ate it, and eventually got better...for about a month. Now I'm
wondering if I didn't introduce it too quickly and this laid the groundwork
for an allergic reaction. Assuming her issue is food allergies, which may
not even be the case.
I'm determined, but damn, I'm tired. And I hate to sound like a selfish git,
but there's writing that needs doing and T-giving stuff I wanted to do, and
that’s all off the rails.
She spent all night on the couch. I let her outside around 330 this
morning--I heard her walking around, and found that she had left a couple
little accidents about (although she at least hit the piddle pads a couple
of times). Then I had to drag on a coat and get the flashlight and herd her
inside because she wanted to stay outside for whatever reason--I was worried
that it was because she wanted to eat grass, which she has been trying to do
since Saturday morning and managed to do several times.
I need to find a food that appeals to her, and I'm afraid it will be
something that she isn't supposed to eat.
She just followed me into the office, and is sleeping curled up on King's
bed. It's pathetic.
And in a bid for attention, King swiped one of my socks and chewed it up. I
try to give him a treat every time I try to feed Gaby, but he can still
sense a difference in the attention meter. As I was reading blog posts, he
lodged himself under my desk and wouldn't budge. He finally gave up and lay
down on the rug. Guess I need to give him a hug today.
