I stopped by the local feed store to ask them to order a small bag of the Natural Balance Venison & Sweet Potato Limited Ingredient Formula. It's a specialty blend, so I assumed they wouldn't have it in stock. As it happened, they had a bag that had been special-ordered, then declined. It was the 25-pounder, unfortunately, but if it works, it will last until the end of the year.

Gaby stood on her hind legs to sniff the bag as I carried it in. I gave her a very small amount mixed with her wet food, and it went over quite well. Switchover will be slow. Fingers crossed that the good reactions continue. A week ago at this time, she was one sick little girl. I never want to go through that again. I'm guessing that she doesn't, either.

She is very energetic, in part because she's been cooped up inside for several days. This weekend, it's supposed to dry out and rebound into the 50s, so I should be able to let her run her butt off then.

So, venison rather than beef/chicken? Seems to me Gabby is rather closer to her wolfish forerunners than most... *g*

Well, according to DNA testing, she is part husky. Are huskies a little closer to wolves than other breeds? Do they have a greater tendency toward beef/chicken issues as a result?

I just hope it works, So far, she seems quite content with all this Bambi business.

I've recently found the joy and wonder that is Amazon Grocery. They have several sweet potato-based dog snacks there that you can set for bulk delivery every x months, if you want, for 15% off the total price, free shipping. The treats I priced for my pup turned out to be cheaper through Amazon than they did in the store.
