The ground soaked up last night's rain like the proverbial sponge. Even though it came down fairly hard for an hour or so, no leakage through the basement window wells. I don't even recall hearing the sump pump go on.

Why do the batteries in smoke alarms always croak after midnight? Why does the dead battery chirp disturb King so that he has to tuck himself into the corner of my bedroom in order to get away from it?

I hate smoke detectors. Our batteries always die at 2am.

It sounds like your basement is fixed, which is great.

Not really "fixed." I think it was just so darned dry that the ground soaked up the rain before it had a chance to pool. The sump pump well only filled an inch or so. That's how dry it's been.
