Website question

Is anyone else having trouble with the Crooks & Liars site? I haven't been able to access it for two days with either Safari 4.0.3 or Firefox 3.5.2.

Update: It finally loaded in Firefox, but it was brutally slow.

The site opens in both browsers on my iMac, same versions here, and OS X 10.5.8. I don't know what in your setup doesn't like that site.

This may be off the wall...

Doing a DNS lookup gives 192.80.49.35 as the IP address for that domain. (Putting that address into the browser address bar brings an empty directory list, so I assume the website is in a subfolder on that server, not in root.)

Some ISPs block any IP address that starts with 192, because 192.168.xxx.xxx is used for local networks, not Internet. This was a problem an Internet friend had with her ISP. She ended up switching to a different ISP.

If you tried to ask your ISP about it, they might or might not know anything. Or someone who knows more about web servers could jump in here. I'm no expert.

Thanks. I can live without this site, but I'm adding it in with all the issues I've had lately and am wondering if something Bad is on the horizon.

I emptied caches, rebooted, and reset Safari. Nothing has worked--the site just won't load.

Do I need to dump caches out of my Library?

Shouldn't have to. Mine was a full cache. Weird that with all you have done still no load. This is also still the same in Firefox?

I haven't reset Firefox, but I did empty the cache a few times.

I've had no problem with IE 7 and a full cache.

I think I was able to access it on the work computer, which is IE. I don't know what's going on.
