...electricity returns as darkness falls, meaning that not much useful got done today. Switched out a smoke alarm. Set up the new wireless doorbell, but didn't install it because I wanted to make sure that there were no conflicts with the cordless phone. Got the fireplace going for the first time this season, a necessary thing considering that the temp in my office dropped to 63F. At least we were able to keep the living room comfortable.

After the power returned, I was able to determine that there were no conflicts with the phone. Yea.

Mother Nature did a good job of pushing the leaves into piles against the fence. Maybe tomorrow we'll give the new leaf vacuum/grinder thingie a whirl.

The excitement never stops when you have a house...

Power Outage

I lost power today for about an hour or so. I wasn't home, so I didn't go through the panic of "oh, no power, what will I do?". (Amazing how I always freak out and go into survival mentality-- where are the candles, were are the matches, what on earth will I eat with no microwave to cook in, etc.---whenever the power goes). It was off long enough that all the clocks need to be reset. But, since I have to reset all for the time change anyway, I have just let them sit and blink 12:00 all afternoon. The only problem I have had so far is that the coffee grinder/brewer reverted to a 10 cup setting, I put in water for 6 cups and well, I had some very potent coffee, to say the least! About the friends thing--I have tried to read about how to do that, but am not very clear on the whole concept. Shouldn't you ask someone if you can add their name to your friends list and vice versa? Suppose I should read some more. I haven't had time to write much in my own journal due to a rather difficult time I had recently. I enjoy reading your journal. I marvel at how you can work full time, take classes, do gardening, house repair, etc, and still manage to write a novel! Sorry if this is too long.

Hope the difficult time is past. And no, your comment isn't too long. I have seen the comment in other journals that LJ limits comment size, but I haven't run into the issue personally.

Well...we had issues there. The tech writing class pretty effectively derailed work on J5. And the house, frankly, took up way too much time. The work needed to be done, and the house looks 100% better, but that was a couple hours a night that I should have been writing. Maybe now that the weather is getting colder and the outdoor work will be curtailed, I can make a dent in the book.

Yes, the difficult time is over, just the bad memories remain! Thanks! It is easier to get things done inside when a nice, sunny day isn't demanding that you go outdoors and "take the air".
