The exterminator came this morning, and sprayed. He advised that I have a ceiling fan installed in the living room to pull the moisture down and circulate the air. So. Saturday it will be off to the Building Supply Big Box for said fan, along with new kitchen and dining room lighting. I will also have a couple of broken sockets fixed as well. If I'm going to have the electrician come out for one thing, I may as well have him come out for six things.

Trees will need to be trimmed, possibly in the next few days. The pine that may need to come down is about 100 feet high. Not a cheap job. So we will try trimming first. See if that works. Roofing guy hasn't been out yet. I am hoping that there are no issues there, but I won't know until I know.

Need to get the chimney cleaned at some point. Also need to have some masonry work done on the chimney and firebox.

So, a number of little jobs that will add up to one biggish job by the time it's all over.

Commiserations. I suspect I have a new wasp infestation-- the last time it happened there was a nest of several thousand of them hiding in the drop ceiling of the basement. I'm almost afraid to look.

You saw the photo that's been whipping around the internet of the wasp nest that guy in Texas found in a vacant house?

*yeesh*

At least ceiling fans aren't too expensive. Still, I understand how home-owning is the death of a thousand cuts.

We have an oak in back that needs to come down, we need a new driveway, we still need to paint a bunch of rooms, we need to replace the flue on our fireplace, etc. Once all of that is done, I'm sure it will be time for a new roof.

There are days that I wish we had bought a a brand-new condo. :-)

I also need some light carpentry around the garage. Landscaping, if the price is reasonable. My elbows still haven't healed from my last bout of lugging 40+ pound bags of lava rock around, and I don't want to aggravate them by lugging mulch.

And yes, I need a new driveway, as well as a new front sidewalk and step. The floor of the garage needs major mending, enough that I wonder whether I made a mistake getting the new roof put on it last year. Should I have just had a new garage built instead?

Condo, yeah.

Condo would be it for me, but where I live condos are fairly rare, unless you're talking senior housing.

My friends in New Hampshire keep emailing me updates on the new enviornmentally friendly, social justice friendly condo development that adjoins protected open space and is within walking distance of the coop as well as biking distance of near anything else I'd want. *whimper*

I'd whimper, too.

It's theoretically a possibility which is why I'm tempted. My job is work from home from anywhere so I could keep my job and move wherever I want. But moving means leaving behind my friends here, as well as the tedium of packing up and selling this place.
