The Hawks signed Mairan Hossa and Tomas Kopecky from the Wings. They lost Nikolai Khabibulin to the Oilers--I don't know about this. He was awfully good this year. And they may lose Marty Havlat because of the salary cap. He was the Hawks' leading scorer this past season. I guess there's a chance they can keep him. We'll see.

So they lost the Bulin Wall. I hope they have their sights set on a goalie, because I don't have much faith in Huet.

I hope Hossa works out better for you all than he did us; and I always liked Kopecky. He's a player. Best of luck with them :)

Did Hossa not play well, or did he just not fit with the team?

The ironic thing about it is that he was with the Pens, and left them to go to the Wings so he could win the Cup...and he meets his old team in the finals and loses.

He did pretty well in the regular season, but kind of vanished in the playoffs. Not sure he ever really fit the system, though, and with the one year contract a lot of people were thinking he was just here for a Cup, and with no intention of making a long-term commitment; obviously not an issue so much with the Hawks.

And yeah, that irony received a lot of face time with the broadcasters in the finals, and there were far more lingering camera shots on a frustrated or disappointed looking Hossa as the series tipped away from us.

Looks like Havlat came here after we lost Gaborik.

Hey, look! Maybe somebody who'll stay healthy!

Hate to tell ya, but he was out quite a bit over the last couple years. He had injuries this year, and was still the team's leading scorer. Scary to think what he might do if he stays healthy, but he has to, you know, stay healthy.

And he apparently took a couple of parting shots at the Hawks via Twitter.

Yeah, it may have been an even replacement.

Maybe we're going to get the old Norris Div back (Chi, MN, Det, StL, Tor) and he's trying to restart the rivalry????
