Signs of summer's end

My late summer allergies are kicking up...fall clothing catalogs...the lawn has lost its emerald green *oomph*...acorn remains raining down from the oak trees, courtesy of the squirrels...that certain sensation on coolish mornings...the occasional overfly of ducks in a V-formation...back-to-school ads.

It went by so fast.

Everything is still green here, which is highly unusual for Tennessee in August, but there was a cool breeze blowing mid-morning that felt like fall.

I mowed the lawn this afternoon, and it was chilly enough that I had to wear a jacket for a little while. I mean, it is August. According to the latest forecast, it could hit 90F midweek, then tumble back to the 70s for next weekend.

I hope that isn't the last shot of heat. I still have a lot of green tomatoes, and the green pepper is finally putting out tiny fruits.
