It would be pretty comical if with all my talk of longing for homegrown tomatoes I wind up killing all my seedlings by having transplanted them incorrectly. Of the six, one is definitely toast, and two are iffy. Three appear to have solid stalks. All have silvered leaves to varying degrees. Some of the leaves on the plants I'm hardening appear silvered as well. But, if any of those look decent this weekend, into the ground they go.

Not planting the extra zucchini and squash, no matter how nice the plants look. One hears stories about freezers filled with shredded veggie and running out of ways to cook the things.

I remembered after I filled all the spots in the raised bed that I still had 25 strawberry plants coming. Welp, they arrived today. I will be planting them in a big hanging basket. I may also do up another hanging basket with already-grown herbs, because at the rate the seedlings are going, it will be August before I have anything I can use. Although the dill appears to have sprouted, which is cool.

Taking tomorrow off, because it will be lovely and I have much to do. Although I did, to my surprise, manage to mow the lawn after I came home from work. That was one thing I was going to do tomorrow. Now I shall do other things. Including write. May do it outside, unless it's windy.

Allergies kicking up a storm. Not fun. To add to the joy, low pressure has triggered a sinus headache. Even less fun

Gaby is leaving calling cards in the corner again. No idea what could have triggered it. She seems to go through periods where she will do this. I hope this one passes quickly.

The moon is waxing gibbous, a hair less than full. That explains a lot.

Canning, maybe?

It's what I plan to do with my extra radishes and stuff this summer. And the pears off my parents' tree, which get neglected unless I head over there.

Not sure they can well. The gardener who was overrun with zucchini stored it by shredding it and freezing it. You could probably just freeze it sliced as well--this person was making a lot of zucchini bread because it was the only zucchini-containing recipe her family wasn't yet sick of.

If I'm lucky enough to have extra tomatoes, those I will can/

Hmm. I should try that. Not that I'm doing zucchini this year, but. *intrigued*

I should have said that they may can just fine. I've just never heard of zucchini preserved in that way.

This just computed.

How can anyone ignore pears off the tree?
