I now have a Dreamwidth account under ksmith. I can't upload photos or pictures for icons for some reason, but I don't have time to worry about that now.

I could only upload icons that were exactly the same size as the regular LJ icons, fwiw. It took me some time to figure this out.

Hmmm..I tried both icons and regular photos. All I uploaded was this teeeny tiny square that was too small to process, so I got an error message.

I literally dragged my LJ icons to my desktop and uploaded them from there. They are the only things I could correctly upload; nothing else worked.

It's still in Beta testing, so the auto-resize function for icons isn't working yet. You can automatically transfer your icons from LJ over to your DW account, or you can resize the image you want manually in a graphics program to 100X100 pixels and then upload those.

Oh, (yes, I keep commenting and then thinking of something) you might check out the getting_started community as well, they've got a lot of hints and tricks and are great about answering questions.
