There is Something under the deck. Gaby has been outside since after dinner, a good hour and a half or more, pacing back and forth, sniffing the gaps between the boards, ignoring me when I try to call her inside. The Something could be a chipmunk, although I haven't seen one of those since the feral cats moved in across the street a few years ago. Could be a mouse. A possum. E.T.

King sniffed around a little, but it's been a long day and he needs his postprandial nap.

We once had a skunk. It did, on the other hand, keep the raccoons well away. (Yes, this is in the middle of Toronto).

[livejournal.com profile] amyirene_40 mentioned a skunk over on my SFFNet list. I am hoping not.

She's still out there.

El-ee-yut...

She's still out there.

This is getting ridiculous.

I'd say leave out some Reeces Pieces to see if it's E.T., but I suspect all the others would eat those too... :)

heh--Gaby has a bit of a sweet tooth. If she smelled those, she might never come back inside.

I had to go out and collect her last night at quarter to eleven, with a leash. She was restless for most of the night--every time I moved in bed, she could bounce up and trot into the dining room, thinking I was getting up to let her out. I assume she fell asleep eventually.

She's already been out this morning. Sniffed around the deck. Whatever had been there must have left because she came back inside on her own. She's sleeping now.

Tell Gaby that Piper's kill count is up to 8. Mostly moles, a couple of small rats. Gaby, sic 'em!
