Apr. 4th, 2009 01:34 pmBoth the Black Crim and Sunset Red Horizon tomatoes are sprouting, although the Crim outnumber the Sunset by about 5:1. Other signs of life: squash, zucchini, kohlrabi, thyme, sage. The basil should have sprouted 2 weeks ago. I think I will replant. The parsley isn't due for another week or two. I need to check the ETA for the chives.
I also planted a few cantaloupe seeds in a pot about a week and a half ago. No signs of life yet.
It's a beautiful day. Sunny. Temps edging into the 50s. Last weekend's snowstorm is a memory but for the odd white clump, bright against greening grass. The ground isn't dry, but the mud situation has eased markedly.
You know what this means?
We are once more under Winter Weather Advisory--this one will run from early tomorrow morning through early Monday morning. Rain and sleet and possibility of snow. Wind gusts in the 30s. Temps in the 30s. Winter is hanging on by his fingernails, the bastard. Every time things start getting nice, he shows up to tramp through the house, spraying and snorting.
It doesn't even pay to get angry about it.
