I still have the editor I came with.

I hate this.

Oh, Crom. I just emailed a couple of people over there to see if any of my friends got the ax. The tension and worry is killing me, but not nearly as much as it's killing everyone over there, I'm sure.

I read the rumors in Galleycat a couple of weeks ago, but didn't feel right emailing anyone.

It stinks.

Uh, you mean the layoffs, right? Not still having the editor you came with...
There should be a new book soon, right? Link somewhere? DM me via twitter...I wanna see....

It was kind of a twist on "still dancing with the one who brung me." Said editor has been my one and only editor since the beginning.

I've been pondering the whole publishing industry after finding this editorial: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2009/02/the-once-and-future-e-book.ars

It makes me think that what the publishing industry needs is *more* editors, and maybe vastly less printing costs. What if *every* book came in a standard paperback size or eBook only. Yes, they wouldn't get the higher return on those books that came out in HB at first, but they'd make better profits overall with only a single format to print.

Or what if they put on demand printing presses in each city. You'd go to a bookstore, browse on the shelves and online, press in your order, have a cup of coffee, and take printed for you on the spot books with you when you left.
