The dreaded extrovert/introvert divide was instantly before me and I quit...because I feel equally strongly that some of the statements about extroverts belong to me and some of the statements about introverts belong to me. Needs time alone, yes. Can focus and concentrate, yes. Thinks things over carefully (usually) before making a decision, yes. So far, introvert. But never leaving others in doubt about what I think? That, too. Enjoy having people around? Lively spontaneous feelings? Like to discuss problems with others? Yes, yes, yes. And it's not a matter of tepid feelings on these--equal strength for "need time alone" and "lively spontaneous feelings."

As I'm demonstrating here, with my passionate dislike of binary psychology. I rebel against the notion that people are either all-extrovert or all-introvert. (Raises flag, hears the strains of revolutionary music in her head, eyes cobbles to see if they can be pried up and thrown...)

And I see (peeking ahead) that this is the old Meyers-Briggs personality assessment which has the same !**! flaws as M-B had in the first place...

Phew, so it's not just me. I went and looked and hit that very same roadblock.

Back in the day, when I had a day-job and was a personnel officer, I was trained in administering a range of psychometric tests for potential applicants. They did vary enormously in accuracy and utility!

The best ones, properly administered and interpreted are a useful adjunct in the recruitment process. The worst - well, they're actively worse than useless...

I went with the overall trend--neither grouping applied to me in total. If I hit a sentence and went ah-hah, that was likely the better fit.

It's a spectrum, and binary does not account for spectrumicity (cue The Police, to the tune of "Synchroncity.") But over the years, despite the limitations of whatever M-B variant, I still shake out into the same general bucket.
