Copying from [livejournal.com profile] rolanni in the hopes that posting progress may actually goad me into making some.

Progress on Endgame: 297 words. Ended the scene as well, which was nice.

Practiced guitar for about a half hour--did so last night as well, and will try to do so every night. Had my first lesson on Monday. I think I'll like my teacher. He started me off with a few chords, and seemed pleased that I was able to remember a few points from all those lessons gone by. I ordered the lesson book, which should be here by Friday. I hope I can stick with this because I really want to learn to play.

Waiting for the info/password/whatever that I need to log onto my online tech writing class, which starts on Monday. I imagine this will bite into Endgame, but only for 6 weeks.

What is the total word count so far?

Good luck with the writing, and the guitar playing.

Well...I don't have a total word count yet, and it's fairly low in any case. The section that I'm working on now is about 1/4 or so of the way along. I seldom if ever try to write scenes out of sequence, but I needed something to kickstart things, and this was a decent place to start.

This book will offer its own sort of struggle, at least in the beginning. Not as bad as CI, I hope, but the inertial moment is rather high.

I'm enjoying the guitar stuff so far. Hope I still feel that way after a couple of weeks.

That usually makes them better. =) I'd imagine it would be harder to feel satisfied with a book that is easy to write, or is it the other way around?

I think at times that a book that came easily would be an absolute pleasure. For once, no picking details here and words there and sticking them together with drops of blood.

Not that we're feeling Dramatic or anything...

Do something to toughen your fingers. i tried to learn guitar a few years ago & couldn't take it. I had played the violin while young & thought it would be about the same. It isn't.

I don't have much trouble growing callouses. I've only been practicing since Monday, one-half hour a day, and the fingertips of my left hand already feel a little rougher/thicker/firmer.

My fingernails are a pain, however. I need to keep my left hand filed almost down to the quick so that the remaining nail doesn't hit the fretboard, and my nails grow fast. If the hair on my head grew as thick and as fast as my fingernails, I would be a happy girl.

And hand strength. Need to work on hand strength. I have one of those Gripmaster exercisers--guess I should dig it out.
