ksmith: (snowflakes)

For a half-hour or so, a classic snow fell. Big, fat flakes, falling straight down. It was beautiful. I'll think about the shoveling later.

[livejournal.com profile] jemck advised making it a movie/relaxation day, and that's about what the traffic can bear. It will be a Peter O'Toole mini-festival, The Lion in Winter and How to Steal a Million.. Everyone has heard of Lion, but HTSAM is a classic 60s Euro-caper flick, light, romantic, with Audrey Hepburn looking gorgeous and Peter O'Toole looking...gorgeous. I haven't seen it in years, and I hope it holds up--I saw the original Pink Panther last year, and confess to having been disappointed.

I think it'll hold up. Less goofy than PP. But then I thought PP held up, so what do I know?

I didn't dislike PP. It was just different than I remembered. But. My favorite PP movie is Return of the PP, so maybe it's just lack of clickage with a classic film.

Try adding another less-known O'Toole film: The Stunt Man. However, keep away from the eggnog before watching; it'll screw with your mind enough all by itself.

I saw that film when it first came out. It was a good one.

In fact, the first time I saw this film, they showed the reels out of order, so you can imagine...

We all got free passes, and I went to see it again. In order this time.

It occurs to me, belatedly, that you presumably have local rules and regulations about keeping the sidewalk in front of your property clear and so on. Plus the need to get out of the house for supplies and such.

So advising relaxation, from the Cotswold UK point of view where epic snow is a rarity in these recent decades, might be considered a bit dumb. Glad to see you took my comment in the spirit it was meant. :-)

Enjoy your films.
