Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

The last few weeks are catching up with me. I'm exhausted. There are things I want to post, but I don't have the energy to concentrate. So instead you get stream of consciousness weather report.

Spending two hours shoveling the driveway didn't help with the tired. We had about 4 inches new snow today, added to the 9 inches or so we got on Friday. But the bigger issue came from the drifts that formed courtesy of Sunday ZOMG winds--wind chills of about 30 below--which buried the bottom of my driveway in about a foot of snow. I tried to pull out yesterday morning, didn't see the drifts until too late, tried to plow through them, and failed. So I shoveled out just enough to get in and out, then did a more thorough job today. Chipped out the area in front of my mailbox...only for the city snowplow to fill the area right back in a couple of hours later.

Had a massage this evening. Masseuse commented on my neck/shoulder tightness. Yeah. I had to clear the snow plow snow from in front of the mailbox after I got home. Immediately doing the thing that screwed up your shoulders to begin with is not the way to treat a nice massage.

I am officially sick of winter. Last winter, which was one of the snowiest on record, we had about 12" snow by this date. This year, we're at 20" so far. I don't want to know what January and February will bring.

In other news, Gaby tried to kill a bird today. The sparrows have been tucking themselves into the shrubbery to protect themselves from the wind, which means they're often roosting near ground level. Gaby pounced on one, had it pinned in the snow, and was not listening to me telling her to let it go. I was about to bump her with the snow shovel when the sparrow managed to squirt out from under and hide in a holly bush. Gaby still tried to get at it, but no go.

Merry Christmas back.

If it's any consolation, they do start to slow down. Belle only brought me one squirrel this fall - she's now 9

I have been advised that the terrier part of her will mean a brand of manic activity up to age 11, 12. Right now, at age approx 2? I call her Pop-A-Chox because she just sort of flits all over the back yard.

Merry Christmas to you, too.

[livejournal.com profile] tappu swears by the semi-regular massage... but is always doing something to jack it up. The perverse nature of the universe, or something.

Thing is, stuff still needs to get done, and sometimes you're the only one who can do it. I usually have a massage every week and a half to two weeks, but I've scheduled my next one for early next week.

This morning, I'm stiff. After I eat breakfast, it's ibuprofen for me.

Put your feet up, read and/or watch some TV/DVDs as the fancy takes you, and just look after yourself and the pups. Everything else can take care of itself. Happy Christmas!

That sounds good. It's gloomy outside--freezing rain and drizzle that will turn to snow later. A few more inches to add to the mess, apparently.
