10, 400 words just got kicked to the curb. About two chapters.

Plotline go bye-bye.

It does. Especially since I wrote most of it during the time I took off. So it's like, wasted leave.

This is why I write slowly. No throw-aways. Well, except for the scene my agent says is a complete giveaway of my plot surprise . . . You have my sympathy!

Speed of writing doesn't help in my case, though. I would say, on average, that the stuff I write at speed stays put while the slow stuff goes. I believe this is because the main reason I write slowly when I write slowly is because backbrain hasn't worked out the plot yet. Once things shake out, then it's there and it's just a matter of getting it down. The slow stuff is like doodling in the margins.

My process is a PITA. I still haven't quite come to grips with the sheer wastefulness of it.
