Does anyone else lose control of house clutter and such while in the throes of Book?

Please don't tell me I'm the only one.

Kris, whose floors are a mess of puppy paw prints (hardwood floors, sprinkly days) that will be attended to Later.

Stacks of mail on the kitchen and coffee tables--at least I removed the bills, and got rid of the catalogs I know I'll never look through.

My bathroom needs cleaning. I will be hiring a lawncare company to pick up the leaves this year because no time.

Ha! I don't believe I've ever been in control, even between books. But when books are in the works, it's mostly a war of containment. Not letting the dust-dinosaurs out from under things. You are not alone.

When reading books, yes. I lack the ambition and talent to write them, and think those in the throes of writing a book can be excused some clutter.

Oh yes, clutter becomes the default state and the housework standard becomes 'sufficient hygiene so we don't all catch something noxious and die' plus 'an adequate supply of clean clothes'.

Delivering book to the publisher is the cue for Extreme Filing, Deep Housework and contemplating all those things categorised as To Be Done When I Get Around To It.
