Oct. 22nd, 2008 11:50 pmI just watched Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders on Dave Letterman.
Hynde is 57 years old, and looks great in skintight jeans, and still wears her hair in bangs that hang in her eyes.
I want to be Chrissie Hynde when I grow up. Except I'm only 7 years behind her, so I better grow up fast.

Date: 2008-10-23 02:34 pm (UTC)Chrissie...to say that she was just always herself may sound dumb, but she began with her own look and it wasn't an airbrushed, dieted to death, record company look. And she plays guitar! And she gives off this vibe of rock 'n' roll authority (1) that just doesn't age. Or get old, for that matter.
(1) a term I swiped from an article about the Runaways that appeared in Creem magazine waay too long ago.

Date: 2008-10-23 02:02 pm (UTC)I’ve actually been listening a lot to the first Pretenders album recently. I am always amazed at confident and unique Chrissie was right at the beginning. She's a phenomenal artist.
By the way, Lynne and I seriously thought you were ten years younger after we met you at WisCon.

Date: 2008-10-23 02:37 pm (UTC)Thanks about the age thing. I wish I was 40 again. I would quite happily remain at 40 for the rest of my days. Not comfortable yet with 50. I look at my life and think 'a half a century and this is it?'
