Dear Chicago Blackhawks,

I know you're all gaflusterpated, dealing with the new coach surprise and all. Lots on your minds. Even so, I just thought I'd remind you that hockey rinks do have two sides. You guys should try skating on the other side more often. You know which one it is. It's the one with the other team's guy standing in the net. And the really smooth ice. And the crickets.

Yeah, the Sharks are having similar issues. They won their first few games, though really, that's more a testament to how bad the other teams played. Last night, they lost 4-0, and tonight they're down 1-0. Make that 2-0; Philly just scored again. OY.

The Sharks wound up coming back and winning 5-4 in OT. It still doesn't change the fact that they look disorganized out on the ice, winning games in spite of themselves rather than because they're a cohesive unit. Of course, it's early days yet. Both the Sharks and the 'Hawks could pull it together and surprise us as the season progresses.

The implication is that is was so damned quiet at that end of the rink that you could hear crickets.
