Any recommendations? Brands to avoid?

I have a crockpot and it's great.

In fact, I suddenly crave pot roast....

Crockpot. *g* It's a brand name.

I have one of these (http://www.target.com/Crock-Pot-Oval-Programmable-5-5-qt-Crock/dp/B000JJNT9Q/sr=1-1/qid=1223993269/ref=sr_1_1/602-6176760-8593401?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Acrock%20pot%20red&page=1) and it works great.

Yeah, I finally figured that out.

I found this one--I like the removable inner thing that you can use to saute/brown.

I ordered it from a place in Brooklyn-$10 cheaper including shipping.

And a cookbook!

Crockpot is only on slow cookers made by Rival. Like kleenex, some people use it for all ceramic pot slow cookers. I've got two Crockpots and a Crock Watcher (made by Proctor-Silex).

I use my Crock Watcher more often, because the ceramic "pot" is removable. This makes it easier to clean and store leftovers in the fridge (not worrying about the cord).

Size is also an important criteria. My sister has a huge one, but she has a larger number of people to feed. Mine are all in the 4 quart range, which is a week's worth of soup.

I have a Hamilton Beach 6qt, the one with the vegetables printed on the outside. It has a removable 'pot' too, and I use it sometimes when I brine chickens or small turkeys. Beats the huge cooler we've got, and it's easier to fit in the fridge than our huge stock pot. The pot is kind of heavy.
