1163 words yesterday. 2407 words today, spread out over too long a time. I either need to focus better, or give myself permission to quit after a certain numbers of hours. But I also need to pick up the pace.

Taking Kuro in for a check-up tomorrow morning. Then it's back to it.

A character is showing signs of growing beyond the boundaries I had originally planned for him. Damn it.

Lawrence Block had an essay wherein he said that he got up in the morning and wrote five pages or for three hours, whichever came first. If he got the five pages done quickly but felt like continuing, that was allowed. But if he got to three hours and it just wasn't coming, he let himself off the hook.

Of course, he was a full-time writer, no day job. But it sounded like a pretty decent system. Perhaps you can adapt it for your schedule.

Unfortunately, I got myself into such a time crunch that I can't afford to let myself off the hook. Maybe I can approach the next book in a more sane manner...
