Can't stay away

Reading live blogs. Some think Obama did better. Others think McCain trounced him. People looking at the same thing and interpreting it altogether differently. Which pretty much explains the last eight years.

PBS is pretty much calling it a draw. That's also what I saw.

I read that Obama's people were sending out copies of reviews of prior Obama performances before the debate, allowing that he doesn't do well during these things.

But if anyone could look at the events of the past week and call it a draw...

Some see that as a win for Obama because foreign policy was supposed to be McCain's strong suit.

I agree. Obama came off as strong and knowledgeable about what was supposed to be his weak point.

This is one of those where a draw during the debate is an overall win for the candidate. Not a good thing for McCain after he week he had.

I thought Obama did very well...he appeared reasonable, knowledgeable, and dignified. McCain looked old and stiff and sounded a little churlish. OTOH he did well enough with his rhetoric.

But I still think he's a doofus.

McCain lost on body language and recycled material IMO. He looked really uncomfortable and we've already heard everything he had to say in the exact same way he already said it.

Two of the scariest human capabilities are, in my opinion, our abilities to filter perceived reality to fit our preconceived notions and to edit our own memories. (We probably need those abilities to survive, but they lead to really frightening results at times.)

I cannot COMPREHEND how people think McCain trounced him.

To some people, "arrogant, grumpy, old jerk" is their definition of President.
