I broke down and switched styles to S1 Refried Paper because, well, I couldn't stand the layout of the Notebook style anymore. Too smooshed together. All I have to do is figure out how to change the colors in Refried--I don't know how colors are defined in HTML, so I'd be guessing as to tone and shade. No time for that now, and the wheat-beige color doesn't clash too badly with my website scheme.

Gave blood today. Lived to tell the tale. Ate chocolate chunk and dried cherry cookies to rebuild my strength. Stuck my "Be Nice To Me--I Gave Blood Today" sticker over today's date on my Spike wall calendar.

There's just something about sticking my blood donation badge on a vampire calendar that makes me chuckle.

Speaking of calendars, received my 2005 Spike wall calendar in the mail today. Very nice photos, the bulk of which must have been taken on ANGEL sets. No more of the kinda tacky pseudo-Goth backgrounds, and James looks a shade older in these pics. Still nice to ponder, though.

Debating whether to stick with Pilates or give the local health club a try. The advantages of the local health club are that it's about five minutes from my house, offers weight training and some aerobics, and is probably a hell of a lot cheaper than Pilates with a personal trainer. The Pilates class I took was fun, and I definitely felt it a day or two later, but I'm not sure if it's enough. I need to build muscle and get my blood moving, so I'm inclined to go with the local club.

Also thinking about guitar lessons again. There's a local music school that offers adult lessons as well as kids' programs, and electric guitar is one of the instruments offered. My Peavey Falcon has been sitting in its case for a long time now. I would essentially be starting over--that year's worth of lessons in the late 90s are long forgotten--but I feel as though it may be time to get this going again. I really would like to learn to play songs I like. Under The Milky Way Tonight. Bohemian Like You. Too many others to count. I hope I like the instructor they set me up with, and that this time I manage to stick with the program.

Chords are going to slay me, though. Blasted C. Bar chords--argh! I can never seem to file my nails short enough--the quicks are almost even with the tips of my fingers, which means that when I press down, the skin can flatten out below the level of my fingernail. Which means I often have a devil of a time holding down strings, especially given the fact that I have no callouses.

LOL. You guys really need to get out of the office more. (big grin)

Those animated avatars are layers of animation like the flip-books you created as a kid using the corner of your school books and stick figures while you should have been memorizing your multiplication tables.

I use Adobe Illustrator to create the individual images, changing each image just a little to make the movement flow smoothly, and then paste them together with <a href="http://www.ulead.com/ga/runme.htm>ULead's GIF Animator</a>. ULead's stuff is very nice, allows you to pace the cells at any rate you wish, add comments, set the number of times it will loop, set up an A-B-A-B-C-D looping structure (only makes sense if you had musical training). Having said all that - I stole this avatar from a friend.

I think stealing will be the route I take. I don't have the ambition to learn Adobe, and I doubt the desktop could handle it. The iBook probably could, but...I'd rather steal.

I've got some other nice ones in my profile. Click the person symbol to get there quickly, then click the default picture to see all a persons loaded userpic avatars. Right click and save as to bring it to your computer. Manage your Userpics from the main menu to upload more. (You know this, others may not...)

Well, "borrowing" is the way I get mine. I certainly coudn't make my own. It was hard enough figuring out how to do the "borrowing".
