I've concluded that Gaby is...not completely housebroken.

Some days, I come home and all is clear. Other days, like Friday, like today, I find a solid calling card in one corner of the living room. At least it's the same corner.

I came home at lunch to find she had peed in that corner. I had put down a plastic garbage bag over the area rug just in case, and she hit that. So, at least it was easy to clean up. So is the solid stuff, come to that, but I am at a loss as to what to do here. I can't crate her--she'd explode, especially given that King is here as well and would continue to have full run of most of the house. So, is this just something I tolerate until such time as I am home all the time and can either train her or leave her outside often enough that it isn't an issue?

When Anya was a puppy she always had an accident in the same spot, so I put down a puppy piddle pad there and she went on it. We tolerated it until she grew older and had a better bladder, but since Gaby is full grown you can't exactly wait for that. I think, if they're happy hanging out outside, and you feel secure leaving them there, that's probably your best bet.

It didn't help that it rained both Friday and today, so they didn't get much running about time during lunch. That helps...push things along.

The fact that she keeps using the same corner may actually be helpful--try blocking off that area so she can't get there. My sheltie mix (for some reason) used the dining room as her own personal potty. We blocked her access to the dining room and viola! She held it. It's worth a try, anyway.

A friend has baby gates to lend, so I may try this.
