Sitting out on the deck, writing, enjoying the sun. I ran an extension cord from the outdoor outlet so that I can type all day without draining the laptop battery. Breeze is a little cool, but it's still a great day--70s, partly cloudy. I don't have anywhere to go, and serious yard work will have to wait until the book is done. King and Gaby are playing, barking, dozing, or combing the yard for squirrels. Gaby even staked out under the oak tree that the squirrels usually head for when they flee. A true hunter--let the prey come to you.

Unfortunately, she's come up empty so far.

The day has not been completely without incident. King ate grass this morning and later chucked it up, along with some pieces of both The Tongue and an ex-bouncy ball. Remains of both toys are now in the trash. King had his stomach meds, and ate lunch with gusto. Just now, I had to chase him and Gaby away from a spot of bare dirt that they were both snacking on. Whatever peed/pooped/rolled there, I hope it stays away and doesn't come back.

King's dozing in his dogloo now. Gaby is Out There Somewhere, either dozing or in search of prey.

Saw a hummingbird earlier. It darted around one of the gerania, then sped off to feed fromt he Rose of Sharon, which it did for several minutes. I think that's the equivalent of a three-martini lunch in hummer time.

Back to it. Boy, it's nice out here.

I had the same feelings all weekend. On Saturday, I spent the entire afternoon outside, and on Sunday, I went for three long walks. It was sooooo nice! I'm lucky to live in a very quiet place, where I hear nothing much other than birds singing and squirrels chattering. It's lovely.

Rain and clouds were predicted for Sunday, but they didn't arrive until today. Sunday proved a repeat of Saturday. Lovely weather.

I live in a typical older neighborhood, so there's always dogs barking or cars going by, but it was still relatively quiet and really, really nice.

I'm also in a very old neighborhood. My house was built in 1900, and it's not really "old" compared to many of the houses around me. Yes, always dogs barking; but I rarely hear any noise from cars, as my street is tucked off the main drag.
