The Cubs broke it wide open in the 7th against the Marlins after being down 0-2. It's now 8-2.

Chicken with pasta and wilted greens for dinner. I know many of you have been doing so for years, but there's something neat about going out on one's deck and snipping fresh oregano and thyme for use in one's dinner. If I could have used my own tomato instead of storebought, it would have been even better.

Hot day--mid 80s and dry. No rain expected through the week, and we could use some.

1157 words yesterday. I'd like to hit twice that today, but we'll see. It's not looking likely. Why is it 3pm already?

...and Sage (used sparingly) and Rosemary and, and , and!!

My favorite has to be cooking chicken and being able to walk outside and snip a twig of rosemary to stick under the skin...white whine, sale, pepper, olive oil...

I think I need to go cook some dinner now. OKTHX!

I have a potted rosemary bush! The last few times I grilled lamb chops, I took a few snips, cut them up, and rubbed them over the meat.

The sage plant that came in my herb planter died. Not sure I miss it. Sage is touchy--it's easy to overdo.

Sage is very, very touchy. I made a quiche that had sage as the base surprised and shocked everyone who ate it--- NO ONE uses sage as a base. NO ONE!

I found through trial, error and experimentation (and asking my Dad what the hell he was doing that I wasn't) that simplicity in flavor was more appreciated (in general) than complexity.

I still champion the cause of overkill on occasion. :)

YUM!!! I love fresh cut herbs in my cooking. And this is a great season. My sage is outside, and huge. My oregano is a weed. But I have to plant parsley, marjoram, basil and chives every year.

Rosemary winter kills here. And when I bring it in, I forget to water, and it dies. :-(
