Salads with pears were a big thing in Denver--I don't recall seeing them on menus in other cities. The Hyatt featured an arugula, pear, and reggiano salad with lemon-thyme dressing, and I saw other pear salads on aother menus.
Well, I love pears. Had some ripe Bartletts on hand, so I sliced one up and added it to some mixed greens. Then came a tomato and some slices of orange sweet pepper. Thought about opening a bottle of raspberry vinigrette, but I already had three open bottles of salad dressing and didn't want to add a fourth. One of the open bottles was a light ginger-soy, which was the one I picked. A little sweet, but with a definite bite. Nice contrast to the sweetness of the pears.
Instead of bread, I had a slice of leftover roasted veggie pizza. Glass of chardonnay. It all worked.
