In a crowd of 5000, many of whom I knew, I'd be lucky to visit with 100 friends. Maybe you're one of those super-people who can manage more.
There was an interesting article that hypothesized that the human brain is hard wired to only be able to recognize about 50 people. Our modern world is really stressing that.
I only managed to see a few folks. Part of the problem was the cold, which pretty much wiped out half the con. The other thing was that without programming, I didn't need to go to the Green Room, and I think I would've run into a lot of folks there.
Worse for me were the two events with about 25 people (the Bujold list curry party, and the Friends of Liad breakfast), where I *still* only managed to meet about 5-8 people. My introversion really shows at times. Kristine, you are also on my list of "people I wanted to meet at Denvention but didn't"--but I did have a great time, and will probably do another WorldCon sometime. Maybe next year!
At least I have my non-work/non-writing vacation to look forward to. Reminded my boss today that for the first week in September I will be on a bike. No laptop and thus no matter what goes on, I will be unavailable :-)

but given that most of my memories of Denvention are of stress and feeling that I was always running late for something, they may have been right.
