Aug. 13th, 2008 06:54 pmSeveral months ago, I bought a doggy drinking fountain via my company want ads. It consists of a hard plastic water bottle that holds about 2 gallons--it inverts over the bowl thingie just like a 5-gallon bottle inverts over a water cooler. It proved to be pretty grimy and didn't seem too stable, but it only cost $10 and I thought I might be able to use it outside if nothing else.
I never got around to trying it out with the Mickster, but I have finally set it up for King. I figure that the trick with regards stability is to only fill the jug halfway at most. I've also set it in a corner atop a towel, which in turn is spread atop a plastic bag. Yes, King could tip it if he really, really tried, but he could tip a regular bowl as well. I think keeping the jug half empty eliminates most of the risk.
King drinks out of it, but he's wary. The bottle gurgles as it dispenses, and that takes him aback.
