Always remember to put the coffee pot under the basket before turning on the coffeemaker.

I turned on the coffeemaker, and then I LEFT THE ROOM. Smelled that lovely aroma, heard the "I'm all finished now" beep of the brewer, and went back to the kitchen to get my cuppa.

Lucky for me that I brew only 4 cups at a time, which is almost the capacity of the basket..."almost" being the operative word here.
