ksmith: (gimme a break)

My problem is that when I have something hanging over my head, like monitoring a sick puppy, I have a hard time doing, much less concentrating on, anything else. I mean, I should wash my hair, but I'm reluctant to leave the living room. Mickey is lying on the floor. He's had a couple of pills and a lot of water, and I am crossing fingers that it all stays down. And it should, given the time lag, but I'm still reluctant to leave the room and like, I have to go to the bathroom, for crying out loud. But every time he moves, I have to make sure everything is ok.

This isn't going to be the most restful day.

King, of course, doesn't know what's going on. He's like the bouncy three year old vying for attention, competing with the sick sibling and losing. It's not fair to him. I will take him outside after I dose Mick with the metro and am sure he's going to keep it down.

Well, King just upchucked, so I think my relief is slated to come at some other time.

Go King Go. Bleah, I'm sorry.

Things that got lost in yesterday's shuffle

Mickey is the more delicate dog physically. But. King is the more delicate dog emotionally. Not to say that Mickey doesn't have his own issues, but King is the one who reads my mood. I'm currently upset. King senses that, along with the fact that something is wrong with Mickey. He just suffered through two nights of firecrackers. I really shouldn't be surprised.

I gave him one of Mickey's sucralfate--I will phone the vet's office tomorrow and c/r/y ask for some more. Tonight's dinner will consist mostly of rice.

Ouch and ouch.

I've had a tough week too, as it happens, and been getting loves from the more sensitive of my cats, and a huge unexpected snuggle from neighbor cat Ripley this morning, too. I hope you see some of that comforting pet-love upside soon.

I had to run out to the drugstore for more pepcid for Mickey. When I returned, he was waiting by the backdoor, which was his habit pre-sick. As soon as I came in, he collected his favorite toy, a chewed-up blue Kong, which again was his habit and which he hasn't done in several days. He looked dazed, much like King did last summer when his stomach meds kicked in and his gut stopped hurting. I am hoping this is the same thing.

Anyway, both guys are sleeping again. I am hoping we're on the downhill side of this.
