ksmith: (gimme a break)

My problem is that when I have something hanging over my head, like monitoring a sick puppy, I have a hard time doing, much less concentrating on, anything else. I mean, I should wash my hair, but I'm reluctant to leave the living room. Mickey is lying on the floor. He's had a couple of pills and a lot of water, and I am crossing fingers that it all stays down. And it should, given the time lag, but I'm still reluctant to leave the room and like, I have to go to the bathroom, for crying out loud. But every time he moves, I have to make sure everything is ok.

This isn't going to be the most restful day.

King, of course, doesn't know what's going on. He's like the bouncy three year old vying for attention, competing with the sick sibling and losing. It's not fair to him. I will take him outside after I dose Mick with the metro and am sure he's going to keep it down.

Yeah, going off food always totally alarms me, because all of my kids are such pigs. I'm willing to let vomiting/diarrhea go for a day, but beyond that or coupled with decreased appetite, it's vet time.

Looking back--love that 20/20 hindsight--this had been building for a couple of days prior to the Thursday/Friday 'something is really wrong'. Mickey had been leaving food in his bowl in progressively larger amounts, but he was still active when we went outside *and* there are times when he goes on strike against his special diet. There was no vomiting/diarrhea. Also, on one of those days, King didn't eat much either, so I thought "weather."
