I've been doing that with ticks and spiders. High ick factor, trust me, I would be doing the girly girly dance and running around screaming and sanitizing my entire body. You are very brave.

Spiders, I leave. But ticks just alarm me, even though we're talking the larger dog ticks, not the Lyme ticks.

The guys get the monthly treatment, so anything they carry into the house either dies or is driven off. I expect to find a few every summer. I hope this is all for a while.

I've found one tick, and I hate them so much. I smash them flat between tissue and flush then wash my hands quite a bit (ok, I wash them so much after spiders, bugs, dead things--I'm such a girly girl at times, sigh.) We've treated all three dogs (yes, we have a 3rd dog now- a shepherd(Aussie, Belgian or something)/who-knows-what cross. We think the other part might be moose or clydesdale.) So I'm hoping for no more ticks. Also no more spiders, no more dead birds or possums or mice or whatever the dogs keep catching.

Good luck with that.

Earlier this afternoon, I found an area of dried vomit on the dining room rug. I cannot for the life of me figure out when it happened--sometime in the last few days, but other than that...? Heavens help this crazy dog person, but I studied it to figure out 1) what it was, and 2) who then might have horked it. It looked like egg, and I don't feed the guys eggs. All I can figure is that one of them found a bird's egg from somewhere and scarfed it, then found it didn't agree.

I cook them liver and the occasional bit of cubed steak. I worry over their dry food, their wet food. I give them nutraceuticals and joint meds and pepto-bismol tabs if I think their tums are upset. And then they go and scarf down any and all bits of crap that they stumble upon, and all I can do is make sure I have carpet cleaner on hand.

It did clean up easily, and didn't soak through to the floor beneath. Some blessing in that, anyway.

I know, I try so hard to give them good food and vitamins and keep them healthy. However, they think that eating rosebushes and garden hoses and dead disgusting things is great. Why do we bother? Cause we love them (and I suspect, in my case, because I'm stupid).

Usually you can tell you've been bitten by a tick because it is still attached. They stay attached for a while, and I've always found them within a day or so of getting them.
