I checked the bank balance this morning and saw that the day job salary had direct-deposited and thought 'wouldn't it be great if I got paid like this for writing?'
I love red beans and rice. Add a few slices of hot sausage, and you have the food of the gods.
I think I'd save a couple hundred a month on gasoline. But besides that is the fact that I wouldn't need to replace current income dollar for dollar (though it would be nice). Taxes. 401(k) pay-in. Those sums would go down or vanish altogether...although I would like to replace the 401(k) with a SEP.
But the market just keeps going down, so I think we're looking at at least another year...
Yeah - I'm more than a little appalled at the market. I just keep putting my fingers in my ears and yelling "I'm not listening!"
Our costs *have* dropped significantly, with my not commuting in and out, with my not pushing us into the higher tax bracket, etc. The other *major* place where we're saving is on food - we had fallen into the habit of eating out almost every single meal (sometimes just a food court at the mall between the subway and home, but...) Those bucks just *keep* adding up! (Especially since we're working our way through a freezer of protein, so our current food costs are artificially deflated.)
You've got a plan, and you're working it. You'll get there, sooner than it feels right now.
