ksmith: (gimme a break)

Set alarm for 4am. Awoke on my own a few minutes before. Worked for 2 hours and 15 minutes, in between coffeemaking and cereal eating. Light classical channel played in the background.

Result? 500 words or so. Hope the pace picks up, but happy with what I wrote.

We'll see how long I can keep it up.

Good luck! I always work better in the early morning myself.

So glad you're happy with what you wrote. I find that always helps my momentum.

I'm on Day 3 of this Trial by Sunrise, and if this limited sampling is any indication, it's working. I can manage more in 2 hours in the morning than 3 or more in the evening. I also like it more.

Which isn't to say things don't need tweaking. A speedbump this morning led to some lunchtime research. Some things will need to be rewritten. I am proud that I was able to restrain myself from breaking away from the writing to look things up this morning. I usually hate moving ahead when I'm not sure if what I'm putting down is right--I dread the thought of devising this neat hook on which hangs a subplot, only to find that my premise is in error.

But, I worked it out. And Keep It Simple, Stupid will be the order of the day.
