Sunday morning
Mar. 23rd, 2008 09:46 amHappy Easter to all who honor the day.
Much snow melting took place yesterday. I put the energy I would have expended shoveling the driveway to the task of clearing the areas around the gutters so they could drain and around the window wells so melt wouldn't drip into the basement. l also raked what I could off the roof (from the ground, but from the sidewalk below--not so daring, me) so it wouldn't freeze in the gutters. Although given the way the temps are edging upward, that may not have proved the problem it would have two months ago.
I don't usually stay awake until 2am, and I'm feeling it now. By the time 830am rolled around, King was adamant that I HAD TO GET UP NOW-I could've used another hour or so, but I hate to miss the daylight so up I got. HRH is now dozing, his job for the day done.
Later today, I will be giving
arcaedia's recipe for Roast Cornish Hen w/ Sage Butter a try. I'll dig out some leftover scalloped potatoes from the freezer, along with Brussels sprouts. In the meantime, I may do laundry. I will definitely be digging through the other suitcases for toiletry bags and such. I'm guessing the toiletries themselves may bite the buglight given their age, but I'll see what I can salvage.
It hit me yesterday that I'M ON VACATION, and will be so for the next week and a half. I may regret using up the extra couple of days that I've added to the beginning and end of this debauch, but my, it was nice to just sit around yesterday and write--even though the production doesn't show it--and not have to go anywhere or do anything. Today, I need to do things. Tomorrow promises to be a flurry of last-minute this n that. So, taking yesterday off was nice.
