ksmithKing went to the vet's for a rabies shot and came out on a diet.
His weight was perfect back in October, when he had his last checkup. Since then, between Winter Inactivity and too much food, he's gained 14 pounds, and he needs to lose it. I sensed that he had gained some, but not that much, and I feel kinda bad.
So, we cut back to the lower end of the food recommendation, and try for some more exercise. The vet told me that the food ranges on dog food bags are determined on lab-raised beagle dogs, who are, if I remember her words, poor metabolizers. So the food range that works well for them may be too much for a dog whose system is more efficient. Now they tell me.
He only needs to lose three pounds prior to next month's physical. Anything faster isn't good.
Rats. I didn't expect this.
Before digging into the wip, I decided to give the house some attention and spend an hour in the basement being merciless with its contents. Three hours later...
I finally have garbage bagged and boxes broken down and flattened out for easier disposal. I didn't intend to spend that much time, but it's like pruning trees. It takes 15 minutes to cut down the branches, and two hours to cut up and bag the things.
So now one side of the basement is more manageable. Much more bare floor. Still too much junk--a couple of old PCs, my first laser printer. I never need to buy another piece of luggage.

alfreda89. It's dated April 21 1994, and begins "Yes! Yes! Yes! Now you've got a book rolling!" IIRC, that beginning didn't survive, but it was a start. All your fault, woman.
I also found the opening scenes for a couple of short stories. I can't say for sure when I wrote them, but given the dating of other things in the stratum, they may date from early-mid 90s. My juvenilia.
