If I ever need a boost, I'll go back and read the SFBC reader reviews for the Code/Rules/Law omnibus. One states that "Kristine Smith is like unto a god...or a goddess to be more accurate." The other said that the story began slowly, but then "the genius of Kristine Smith's writing took hold."

I'm going to need that over the next few months.

Huzzah. What lovely reviews. Blow them up poster size and hang them over your computer for when life seems "too damn much to handle." Then get puppy loves from your dogs.

I should print them and tape them to the monitor.

I don't believe the concept of writer-diety has been adequately explored in this society.

i agree with them most heartily on most points, though i disagree with the starting slow. i scrambled through Code with a fanatic intensity. much to the dismay of coworkers who tried to ask me questions while i was reading in the back during lunch.

friend of mine made a special trip to the store to get a copy of Code between work shifts. apparently i was gushing about it again. so you are being peddled in the Binghamton NY area. with great enthusiasm.

One writer who gave me a very nice blurb for one of the books blogged about them on Librarything. Heartily rec'ed them, but said that, in effect, you have to be patient and get past the opening, meaning the start of CODE. And one other online reviewer groused about the florid descriptions, which he said almost made him stop reading. So the opening didn't quite work for some folks.

I'm glad it worked for you.

I'm being peddled in Binghamton, huh. It's all [livejournal.com profile] pbray's fault.

many things can be traced back to and blamed on [livejournal.com profile] pbray

huh, i am going to have to go reread the beginning of Code now, see just what might have bothered people.

also, still liking John. almost done with Contact, and i will say you caught me by surprise a few times, but in an excellent sort of way. bravo. details withheld so i am not launching spoilers all over the place.

i really do adore john.
and Pierce grew on me as a character. glad he didnt turn out to be a one shot plot mechanism.

... and here i am, gushing all over your lj again. let me go get a paper towel and mop that up.

I swore I replied to this, but it must not have gotten through.

ANYway, I'm so glad that someone actually adores John.

And no, Niall is no one-off.

Contact gets bonus points for having so much John. not that i am showing favoritism or anything...

He's in Endgame as well.

*raises eyebrow* awaiting opinion on ye olde end of the series or Contact?

i could gush about John. apart from my odd addiction to the Odd Man Out and Hopeless Romantic, he is a damn likable character. i think i have been rooting for him since Jani mentioned the first thing he said to her was a joke about his name. nothing like a nice caustic sense of humor.

everyone falls for Lucien, dont they?

Endgame is sitting right next to me, waiting for me to get on with it already and read that last chunk of Contact.

i ran into Endgame in the store when it was released, and the blurb interested me. i threw a small tantrum when i couldnt get the beginning of the series into the store. then promptly forgot about it until pbray mentioned zooming through Endgame in her blog. word of mouth sells a book better than any article or blurb that has ever existed. i am damn glad pbray made that post, else i would be missing out on a fantastic bit of writing. *salute*

...i tend to blather on late at night. dont mind me.

End of the series, because you seem to have a different POV than most.

Ay-yuh.

I tend to blog when I should be writing.

working on Endgame right now, and am currently happy with the fact i am being slammed with consequences. not happy in a gleeful sort of way, but in a satisfied manner. actions and decisions have actual consequences. this seems to be a little thing, and a common sense thing, but its a thing people tend to gloss over. there is no glossing occurring. shit is hitting the fan at a high velocity.
when i am done reading i will do a reaction post and link you over. i just dont want to clutter your comments any more than i already have, and i dont really want to sling spoilers about with wild abandon, just in case i am not the only one who somehow managed to miss the series as it was coming out.
