...which is why I spent the odd off-moment this morning sketching out dialogue. It's the first thing that usually comes to me, along with opening impressions.

I have no time for this.

I feel you, sister. I have a short story that's been on and off since the spring.

I'm so not a short story writer. And less of one now that I have a novel looming over my head! haha

I've sold two short works in my life, and one of those blew up into a novella.

I don't have time, but I'll probably work on it tonight anyway, just to see what happens.

I just want to see what I can do with it. It took a serious/horror turn in my mind. The overall idea could be played for light/humorous as well, but that's not the direction it seems to be headed.
