Do you have any idea how much mud a dog with feet like little dinner plates can get lodged between his big fat toes????

Bloody thaw.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!

I was very pleased with myself for layering the hall with newspaper, so when everyone charges in with their great muddy feet, the mud goes on the paper and not the carpet. Then literally turned round to see a cat, with an expression of 'Hooray!' leap upon the paper, and pee.

You can't win.

The dogs enter and leave by the back door, which exits through the dining room. I have hardwood floors, which have been covered with very cheap felt-y carpet in the interest of preservation. I keep meaning to take up that carpet and clean the floors underneath, which are dulled and a little dusty from the stuff that filters through the felt. Maybe in the summer, in the midst of a long dry spell.

They enter and leave together, so that when I grab one to towel him down, the other takes off for other parts of the house. I just follow the footprints. *sigh*
