No such thing as a bad review

Remember that grumpy Amazon review I groused about a few weeks ago? The one in which the reviewer consistently misspelled the name of a major character?

Someone posted in the review comments that they had been on the fence about buying Endgame, but the review convinced them to take the plunge. Seems that said review, which was pretty spoilerific, indicated that the story had veered in a direction the commenter had wanted it to go, but had been afraid it wouldn't.

Guess I should just leave them alone to do their little thing. Reviews.

I put Code of Conduct on my wife’s In stack while I was in the middle of Law of Survival; it wasn’t long before she appropriated Contact Imminent while I was in the middle of it, went on to devour Endgame and asked “Are there any more?”

I don't want to see more Jani stories for a while. They were really good, but her tale has been told, at least for now.

What I want is NEW stories from this very excellent writer.

Maybe someday. Right now, Jani needs a break. There's the novella that appeared in the Dec 06 issue of Baen's Universe, Incident on a Small Colony. That's the only other Jani story out there except for the books.

I'm very glad to hear that your wife (and you) enjoyed them. But I think it was a good thing to stop the story when it was still going strong, instead of having it fizzle out on me.

When I read amazon reviews, I often read one or two 5 star reviews and then go to the 1 star reviews. People's gripes often tell me exactly whether or not I want to read a book or buy a product. So while I agree that a review might discourage some readers, sometimes bad reviews have the opposite effect on me.
