My feeling as I read all the WFC posts.

My next trip, fingers crossed, will be the Novelists Inc Conference in NYC next March. Not a con, but lots of writers, and hey, NYC.

BitterCon was exciting this year, wasn't it?

If it's any consolation, I heard that the host hotel and surrounds were other-than-pleasant, though as yet I've only seen a single source on that one.

I've heard that the hotel was average, but the surrounding area nice and the restaurants rilly good.

I didn't stay in the con hotel, but from what I saw of various rooms, it average is probably a good description. The bar would have been better if they'd gotten more staff. And the surrounding area was pretty nice, and the restaurants good. Wish you'd been able to make it. That woulda been keen.

Yeah.

Not sure when I'll do WFC again. Already have 3-4 trips planned next year. Possibly '09.

I feel your envy. I used my conference going budget to go to my first-ever romance writers convention instead. It was great, but I really, really miss WFC.

I want to attend a romance writers conference at some point. I don't write strictly romance, but I still think I can get a lot out of the experience.

I've only been to 2 WFCs, but I liked them both a *lot*. The first was Schaumburg (Chicago)'96. I was still a wannabe getting the feel of cons, but I knew there was something about it that was different, and that I liked. The second was Madison '05, which was special because 1) Madison and 2) I had been out of the con loop for a few years at that point, and that con made me feel like I was still a member of the tribe.

You're cucumber with envy? Spiny vegetable with envy? Oh, I get it...

So, are you doing the non-trip of Windycon this weekend?
