Saturday will be 20 years I've been at my company. Since it's the weekend and no one will be there, we're having a party on Friday. Cake, brownies, and ice cream sundae bar.

I can't believe I've been there that long. A fifth of a century.

Moving along...

Spent part of the last 4-day weekend filling out interview questions. Some time in the next few weeks, said interview will turn up on Sci Fi Wire. I'll let you know when it goes live.

Last Friday brought a hint of Fall, with temps (note: overnight temps) dropping into the 50s. I slept with the windows open, and by the time morning came, the temp in my room had dropped to 63F. It was lovely. Now I'm looking forward to the first hard freeze that should, oh please, wipe out the mosquito population. I mean, really, what purpose does the mosquito serve? Disease vector? Dragonfly food?

54 days until ENDGAME hits the shelves.

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Wow, that weather sounds nice. It's all muggy here. Ick. :)

Thanks!

The weather warmed up, unfortunately. We could get some rain over the next few days, but then another cooldown--60s and 70s. Looking forward to that.

You still get parties with chocolate and ice cream? Cool!

When I hit 20 my boss didn't even say "Thanks."

I guess I shouldn't mention that I received a congratulatory note from the CEO?

Yeah, it was a form note, but he did sign it. They've done away with some things over the years, and it's not the same place it was 20 years ago. But they still do some things.

25+ anniversaries are the biggies. Bigger parties, w/ a buffet if requested. Offsite lunches.

Mosquitoes also serve as fish food.

But there are non-biting species of mosquito....

[Sometimes I wonder if mosquitoes would be useful as a vector for spreading positive stuff, such as analogous cowpox versus e.g. smallpox, vaccinating against something more noxious...)
