It's apparently never going to stop raining. I'm taking the day off to build an ark.

I'm also going to try to fit grocery shopping and general mental health maintenance in between the raindrops.

Last night I did two loads of laundry, found a lost checkbook after only an hour's search, and figured out how to hook up/program the DVD player so it worked with the Comcast box. Odd that I feel that I wasted the evening...unless you count the fact that I wedged two Buffy episodes into the mix and didn't do any writing.

A day without writing seems a day wasted, no matter what else I accomplish. Don't know whether that's good or bad.

Not a waste at all! At least you got some stuff done -- if I'm watching DVDs I usually end up couch potato-ing. Are you watching or rewatching Buffy? I've been rewatching for the first time since they aired and am currently in the middle of Buffy 5/Angel 2. I'm hearing the siren song of Farscape, though. (Curses on you, [livejournal.com profile] matociquala!) Luckily I only have Farscape's first two seasons so I should be able to resist until I finish Buffy.

I'm rewatching parts of Buffy. Truth be told, there are some episodes I've skipped, including entire sections of seasons 2, 3 and 4. I'm a Spike fan, and if he's not around, I tend to lose interest. Hence there a lot of the Faith/Mayor story that I missed, even though folks rave about it. I should probably just take a few months and watch the shows in order, but I don't know if I could do it.

The Faith/Mayor arc has some repercussions later, but I think most people love it because the Mayor was so much fun. I'm at the point where the Spike/Buffy arc really gets started with him wanting to kill Buffy and help her at the same time. It's all good from here, even S6. Image (http://photobucket.com)

I saw that they are starting to talk about flooding in Chicago suburbs, so thought I'd see if you were worried about it.

That feeling of a wasted day? I get it every time I really get into organizing the paperwork. "You should be writing," my subconscious tells me. Does it offer suggestions, or where to pick up next?

Not a chance.

Hope you're dry! And get some writing done this weekend.

Dare I ask how your Mom has been? I get sick myself and lose track of everyone else's health situations. She's still in my requests/prayers...

Flooding was well to the west of me. I'm on ok ground--the road slopes slightly downhill toward the state park/marsh--so water flows away from me. But it still soaks into the ground, and if the sump goes out, I will still get a little seepage.
