I vacuum twice a week. House is 1100 sq ft or so. No carpet--all hardwood/one-piece flooring, with area rugs.

The opening to the trash can is about 11"x14". I had to empty the canister twice.

You could knit a puppy with that.

Do you compost? Coz you could just stick that right in and let it decompose.

I don't compost, though perhaps I should start.

I do threaten the guyz that I will knit a third puppy.

Well, if you have a backyard, I'd recommend composting for soil improvement. And of course, reducing the rates by reducing landfill.

The boy and I have optimistically put the Animal DC17 on our wedding registry. Maybe we have a friend stupidly rich enough to buy us the World's Most Expensive Vacuum Cleaner? Or a bunch of friends?

I resisted the lure for a long time. So many of my dog owner friends raved about it, but I couldn't see paying that much for a vacuum cleaner. Then I faced the fact of The Hair, and ponied up.

it's not the most expensive, though. There a Miele (sp?) that I think runs about a grand. Kirbys, as well.

I'm happy with this Dyson, though. The rugs are five shades lighter after I finish vacuuming.

Is this better than an Oreck? (A very good and expensive sweeper.)

I am envious of your suckage. Power, and a HEPA filter, are everything.

I don't know how it compares to an Oreck--I don't know anyone who owns an oreck. I've seen the commercials, and received the mailings, but never looked into it.

One thing I really like about the Dyson is the light saber hose attachment that fits inside/forms the handle, When you need a hose with smaller attachment, it's all right there (3 small attachments clip to the body of the vac).

What I need is a battery-run handheld that I can carry around for small sweeping jobs. Had a Dirt Devil that turned out to be unwieldy.

Dyson does make a small one to hand carry, for what it's worth. Under $200, but bound to work better than the Dust Buster I got.

Wow. Steep for a small unit. But worth checking out, thanks --

I vacuum every day with the Dyson. Three dawgs with undercoats, a short-haired shedder and a crumby child = much yuck.

King is shedding his undercoat. Mickey doesn't shed nearly as much, but there's just enough to let me know he's there.

I vacuumed late last night, and I;ve already found tufts on the rugs.

Go, Dyson!

I should run mine again. Real soon now. No pets, just teenagers with long hair.
