And the reason I'm disappointed is because the day just didn't go right. I need to take my car into the shop tomorrow for a Funny Noise Investigation. My lawnmower needs to visit the repair guy as well. It's supposed to rain. I didn't win the lottery.

Looks like you had a bad day yesterday (do I get extra points for the understatement of the day?) The FNI is tough, especially if you are not very good in mimicking car sounds and look like an idiot trying to explain it to the service guy (been there, done that...)
Also, if it is going to rain, then you can't use the lawnmower, right? Do you even buy tickets for the lottery? I hear that it's sort of a pre-req for a chance at winning... :) Hope you are having a better day today...

I did indeed buy a lottery ticket. Just came up empty.

What ticks me off about the lawnmower is that it's only a couple of months old, and it was the top-of-the-line model.

Kuro, my Forester, is currently at the dealership. The service manager ID'd one of the funny noises right off the bat. Nothing serious, just annoying.

I decided to have Kuro cleaned and detailed as well--shampoo, buff, polish, vacuum inside and out. I know some folks do that themselves, but in order to do it right it has to be something you enjoy doing, and I don't enjoy it.

Of course, it's supposed to be raining tonight when I go to get him. That figures, I guess.

Can't you just take the lawnmower back and get it replaced? I mean, a couple of months old?

I am not too big in cleaning my car myself, either--the running joke is, how would I recognize my car in the parking lot if it was clean? I think Murphy has a rule about the correlation of rain and car-washes, something like, if you want to make it rain, get your car washed.

Never thought about naming my car, does he answer to his name? :) Flash his headlights and wiggle his mirrors, maybe? ;)

The problem with the mower is a plugged carburetor intake, which is apparently pretty common these days.

Kuro looks brand-new, all spiff and shiny. He doesn't answer to his name, just sits and stares straight ahead. He's very stoic that way.
