Spring flowers

Photos from around my yard behind the cut.

Petunias in the planter I assembled/built a few years ago:

Full shot of the Louisa. It's much prettier in real life--the photo doesn't do it justice:

Closeup of the prairiefire crabapple, covered with buds--the flowers will be magenta

Red tulips:

Edited to add photo of prairiefire crabapple

Wow, simply beautiful! The nights still get too cold here for me to seriously hit the garden. Although my tulips came up....but alas, the cold hit and they are gone. ;-(

Thanks! It took a few years, but the crabapples have developed nicely.

I know we're going to get another cold snap between now and Memorial Day. The nights have stayed pretty cool, given that we're so close to the lake.

pretty :) I so wish I could have more water intensive plants (living basically in the desert cramps my gardening possibilities.) I didn't get any outside work done this weekend since it decided to snow on and off the whole two days.

The lawn is holding so much water that my mower won't mulch--all the grass crams beneath the deck. Some of it falls off as I mow. The rest, I need to hose out when I'm done.

Yet we could use some rain. Nothing for the past week, and nothing much in sight.
