Sunday evening

Lovely weekend. 70s/sunny yesterday, 80s/sunny today. Mowed the lawn for the first time yesterday, and once more had it confirmed that self-propelled push mower + Spring-soggy lawn = a mower that doesn't propel itself very well. Which meant that I had to do a lot of push and pull. Pushing and pulling a hundred pound mower over a third of an acre lot may not seem like a lot of work, but it is. I felt like I had gotten a pretty good workout, and needed to pop an ibuprofen when I got up this morning.

Took it easier today. Haircut this morning. Lunch of grilled lamb chops with cherry sauce. Spent the afternoon transplanting hosta and lilies and weeding, with all the bending, stretching, and crouching that implies. Much done. Am happy.

Colored my hair. Natural Instincts "Nutmeg," my usual Gothy uberbrown. Thank ghod it's not a permanent dye because that stuff gets everywhere, including places you swear you didn't touch. Followed up with a facial, because yardwork dirt seemed to have seeped in to every pore.

The sort of weekend I haven't had in a while. I'm having a hard time scrubbing the dirt out from under my nails, and I'm bone-tired. Feeling quite accomplished.

In other news, my schwarm for Coach handbags continues. I found the brown counterpart to my black bag on eBay, and just won it. I really like this style--the bag holds a lot and it has a nice structure and look. This should, she told herself, complete the handbag quest for a while, as I now have Coach briefcases and handbags in black and brown. All used--together, I don't believe the prices I paid equaled the cost of a single new bag.

Thought about the Gideon plot. Do I want this to be my 4-5 POV multi-thread plot-heavy book, or do I stick with single POV Keep-It-Simple-Stupid? First chapter is a prologue masquerading as a chapter, but there is information contained within that needs to be known. I could tell it later on, but I think this needs to be seen. I'm having trouble starting this one, not because I don't know what happens in the first couple of chapters, but probably because it's a new world with different characters, dark fantasy/horror rather than skiffy.

Actually, there is a leetle bit of skiffy tossed in, but it's handwavery neuroscience. Research for this one will include the neuro texts I used for the Jani books and works like the Malleus Maleficarum and histories of Illinois. I don't need a lot of this information, but a touch here and there will be necessary. I hope I can make it work.

Witches, yes, in case you were wondering.

Yep, this was a perfect weekend for yardwork. I think we finally got the garden all planted, then ate our first lettuce of the year.

I'm making a list of shrubs I want to get. There's a corner of the backyard that needs some work. Trying to work out something that looks nice, but can hold up to frequent puppy incursions.

Why, I know that nutmeg well... When I bother with color at all :-)

Witches?!? I support the notion whole-heartedly!

It's a shade darker than my normal boring medium brown, which means it lasts longer, and fades nicely from uberbrown to chocolate before fading entirely.

These witches...can you have sfnal witches?

I won't know what this is until I write it.
